Gamma, flow response, and expected move
A plain-language guide to the structure layers that surround price on the main chart.
In short
Gamma describes how options positioning can change modeled dealer hedge sensitivity as price moves. Derived flow describes qualifying reported activity. Ivolution keeps those lenses separate, then shows where their session context agrees, differs, or remains unavailable.
Gamma terrain and material trails
Gamma terrain is a time-by-price field of modeled options concentration. Its color shows sign and its intensity shows relative concentration within the served view. A blank cell remains missing rather than being painted between observations.
Material trails make sustained concentrations easier to follow through the session. A dotted segment is still forming; a solid segment is active. The trail preserves what the terminal observed at that time.
Flip and walls
- Gamma flip
- A reference level where the modeled aggregate gamma sign changes. It is structure, not a forecast that price must reverse or continue.
- Call wall and put wall
- Prominent call-side and put-side positioning levels in the current estimate. Their identity can change as the served structure changes.
- Expected move
- An options-derived reference band for the session. It provides distance context and does not identify direction or a price target.
Absorption and flow response
The flow-response view compares qualifying options activity with the subsequent underlying-price response after the observed event is complete. It can describe movement aligned with the flow, movement opposed to it, contained response, or a mixed path.
Derived qualifying options flow only. Aggressor side describes observed execution location, not opening intent, causality, or a prediction.
